Ted Cruz-June.

Ted grew up in Texas. His father Rafael fled Cuba after being tortured and imprisoned and arrived in Texas with only $100 stitched into his underwear. Rafael took a job washing dishes, earning 50 cents an hour and learning English. He worked hard and went to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a degree in mathematics. He then started a small company in the oil and gas industry. Today Rafael is a pastor in Dallas.

Ted’s mother, Eleanor, was born in Delaware into an Irish and Italian working class family. She was the first in her family to go to college, graduating from Rice University with a degree in mathematics. She crossed the border to Shell as one of the few women working as a programmer at the dawn of the computer age.

Education and early career

Ted received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his law degree from Harvard Law School. After law school, Ted clerked for Chief Justice Rehnquist and then went into private practice. In 1999, Ted joined George W. Bush’s presidential campaign as domestic policy advisor. By far the best part of Ted’s experience in the Bush-Cheney campaign was meeting Heidi Nelson, who also worked on the political team. Heidi and Ted married after the campaign.

After working for the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission under the Bush Administration, Ted returned home to become Attorney General of Texas. As a public defender, Ted argued eight cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and defended our freedom of speech, our right to keep and bear arms, and our freedom of religion in courts across the country. After working as a public defender, Ted returned to private practice where he continued to handle high stakes cases and argued his ninth case before the Supreme Court.

Ted and Heidi also started a family of their own, welcoming Caroline and Catherine.
Ted was sworn into the U.S. Senate in 2013, where he has been a fierce fighter for limited government, economic growth and national security. He has authored dozens of legislative measures passed, including expanding savings accounts for 529 colleges to allow parents to save for public, private and religious education from kindergarten through 12th grade, repealing the Obamacare individual mandate, sanctions against terrorists who use civilians as human shields, designating North Korea as a sponsor state of terrorism targeting Putin’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline through numerous bills banning the use of

He also fights in the Senate to support Texas jobs, master key technology, secure borders, and fundamentally reassess U.S.-China relations, holding the Chinese Communist Party responsible for covering up the coronavirus pandemic, committing human rights atrocities, and engaging in censorship, propaganda, and espionage in the United States.
